Derek Lea - Biography

 

 

Derek was born in Surrey and has lived in the County all his life. As a child he became interested in motorcycles, and, with the help and encouragement from his Dad, he soon found himself racing Motocross competitively, winning both schoolboy and subsequently adult championships. This interest in Motorcycles was to form the basis of his decision to join the British Stunt Register.

 

After leaving full time education, Derek went traveling. During this time, he met a well known actor who made him believe in his own ability, and inspired him to follow his instincts and become involved in the acting profession. Derek went on to study Drama for 3 years at Red roofs Theatre School in Maidenhead.

 

After leaving drama school he acquired his provisional equity card through stage management, he then went on to perform in a number of stage productions to obtain his full equity card. Derek also continued his efforts to complete all the necessary disciplines required to become a member of the British Stunt Register. TV and Film work soon followed.

 

Derek is now in his twentieth year in the industry and has carved out a niche for himself  for his ability to act and perform stunts. He has appeared in over 30 Feature Films and numerous TV Productions.

He still lives in Surrey with his wife Ali and daughter Abbie.
